Popular American Judge, Politician, Frank Caprio, Dies at 88

Judge Francesco Caprio popularly known as ‘Judge Frank Caprio’ has died after a battle with Cancer for two years. He died on Wednesday, 20th August 2025 aged 88 years.
The popular judge whose judicial work was televised on the programme ‘Caught in Providence’ was an American judge and politician who served as the chief judge of the municipal court of Providence, Rhode Island, and chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education.
He was known for his empathy toward defendants and plain spoken courtroom style, his clips drew millions of views worldwide and made him one of Rhode Island’s most recognizable public figures.
He has been battling pancreatic cancer since December 2023.
He publicly shared his diagnosis to inspire others while undergoing medical treatment and recently completed chemotherapy and radiation, with doctors believing the tumor was successfully removed, though it’s a terminal illness.
Late Judge Caprio remains optimistic, attributing his strength to his faith and the support of his family and fans.
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2023. He has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments till his death.
He was born on 23 November 1936, Providence, Rhode Island, United States.
He is survived by 5 children; Marissa Caprio; David Caprio;John Caprio;Paul Caprio and Frank T. Caprio.
