Major Breakthroughs As Gombe Police Foil Robbery, Recover Stolen Car, Rescue Children

The Gombe State Police Command has announced several major breakthroughs in crime prevention and control across the state during the past week.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, said the successes reflect the Command’s determination to safeguard lives and property.
On September 15, 2025, police operatives rescued a three month old baby allegedly abandoned after being given away by its mother, Fatima Abdullahi, 20 years, in conspiracy with another woman. The baby was later taken by a third suspect who fled with it. All suspects were tracked and arrested at Tumfure Trailer Park, Akko LGA.
Two 14 year old boys, Danladi Babangida and Samaila Sulaiman, were arrested in Pindiga, Akko LGA, for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl while she was fetching firewood. The suspects confessed to the crime, and the case has been transferred to the Gender Unit for further investigation.
On September 9, 2025, a tricycle rider discovered a newborn baby inside a carton left behind by a female passenger in Gombe. The baby was taken into police custody and later handed over to the State Social Welfare Department.
Police arrested Abdullahi Mohammed, 32, accused of recruiting young boys to commit robberies under the guise of vigilante work. Two accomplices, both 18 years old, were also arrested. Items recovered from his shop included stolen phones, ATM cards, vigilante IDs, police uniforms, and weapons.
Police in Pindiga arrested one suspect linked to an armed robbery attack in Kashere, where a gang broke into a house and carted away phones, power banks, and cash worth almost ₦900,000.
In another operation, detectives arrested one Ibrahim Zubairu, also known as Dan Makka, in Bauchi State. A stolen Toyota Sienna and fabricated keys were recovered from him. His accomplices remain at large.
The Police Command strongly condemned sexual violence, theft, and armed robbery, while advising residents to be vigilant, monitor suspicious movements, and report crimes promptly.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that the command remains committed to fighting crime and protecting communities.
