Bauchi Police Arrest Housewife For Battering Private Part Of Minor

The Police in Bauchi have arrested one Zuwaira Hassan, for reportedly using a hot metal to barter the private part of her 10 years old sister-in-law on allegation of being a witch.
A statement issued on Friday by the Bauchi State Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said upon receipt of a report on the incident, detectives stormed the scene, evacuated the victim to General hospital, Toro, for immediate medical attention, while the suspect and her accomplices were arrested.
“On 11th September, 2025, at about 0030 hours, one 37 year old Yahuza Usman of Magama Gumau, Toro LGA of Bauchi State, reported at the Toro Area Command that his 10 years old sister, of same address, was mercilessly and forcefully punished with a highly hot metal spoon inserted in her private part suspected to be by his brother’s wife, one Zuwaira Hassan.
“During interrogation, the principal suspect (Zuwaira Hassan), confessed that on 8/9/2025, at about 2300 hours, while she was conversing with her 2 children and the victim who was her in-law, where the victim disclosed to the suspect that the living room will fall down and suggested that they should vacate to another room and her 2 children disclosed that they were dreaming of the victim in bad mood. On that reason, early morning of the following day, the suspect took the victim to one Fatima Abdullahi, a traditional herbalist and disclosed that the victim was suspected to be a witch and the herbalist served the suspect with a traditional medicine to be used for witch protection.
“Subsequently, the suspect put a metal spoon into fire, directed her 2 sons, Umar Ibrahim and Abubakar Ibrahim, to tie up the victim’s hands and legs and inserted the highly hot spoon into the victim’s private part as punishment, claiming she was assigned to so by the said herbalist who was also arrested.
“Upon interrogation, the herbalist stated that she actually received the suspect alongside the victim, where the suspect requested for witch protection medicines, claiming that the victim was a witch. Her children disclosed to her about the bad dreams they had been having during the night. The herbalist requested N150,000 for the medicine but the suspect bargained for N40,000 and was offered a medicine for both bathing and body smokes for a while. On September 2, 2025, she was arrested for being suspected of involvement in the suspect’s act.
“An investigation is in progress, after which the suspects will be charged to court to face the consequences of their actions.
The CP, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has urged parents and guardians to approach the search for remedies for their sick children with caution and care and ensure that they seek advice from trusted professionals for their well being.
