By Dennis Udoma, Uyo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has dismissed the newly unveiled African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition as nothing more than a gathering of “failed and disgruntled politicians.”

Otuekong Iniobong John, Chairman of the APC Media Network, made the remarks in Uyo on Friday, September 19, during an interview with our correspondent.

He argued that no politically conscious son or daughter of Akwa Ibom would take the coalition seriously.

John wondered how the ADC could boast of electoral prospects in the state, when the APC enjoys the support of key political heavyweights including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, serving senators, former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere, all local government chairmen, members of the State Executive Council, and an overwhelming majority in the State House of Assembly.

According to him, the ADC leaders are “defeated and drowned politicians” seeking platforms to exploit the vulnerable public. He branded them as “shameless jokers” intimidated by APC’s growth and expanding influence in Akwa Ibom.

This comes after the leader of the ADC coalition in the state, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, had described the APC as a “cursed party” that could never win elections in Akwa Ibom as the coalition unveiled it’s party two weeks ago.

John maintained that electoral victories are won through public support, structure, and networks qualities he claimed the ADC completely lacks.

He urged Akwa Ibom youths to resist “mental slavery and political hypnotism” and instead take their destinies into their own hands.

“All the masquerades in the so-called coalition are known,” he said. “Their cheap tricks are old, and their dark desires are well known.

“Akwa Ibom people are too enlightened to be fooled again. They can only deceive children, not adults.”
