Bauchi CP’s Score Card: #38m Recovered, 748 Suspects Arrested In 6 Months

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has disclosed that #38 million was recovered from suspects involved in various criminal cases in the last 6 months.
The CP made the disclosure during a press briefing held at the state police command headquarters on achievements recorded within the period.
Giving summary of significant achievements recorded, Aliyu disclosed that there were 57 cases of armed robbery resulting in the arrest of 113 suspects while for culpable homicide, 78 cases were recorded with 171 suspects apprehended.
For attempted culpable homicide, 14 cases leading to the arrest of 24 suspects were recorded while for grievous hurt, 7 cases resulting in the arrest of 16 suspects were recorded.
He said that out of 44 cases, 72 suspects were arrested for rape and indecent assault, while 4 cases leading to apprehension of 7 suspects, were for kidnapping.
While saying that 20 cases leading to the arrest of 37 suspects were for theft and other forms of stealing, he stated that 117 cases leading to apprehension of 106 suspects, were for false pretense cheating.
The CP who further disclosed that 3 suspects were arrested in connection with 2 cases of mischief by fire, also said that 2 suspects were arrested for 2 cases of forgery of currency notes.
According to the CP, 29 suspects were apprehended out of 9 cases for breach of public peace, while 2 suspects were arrested for 2 cases of unnatural offences.
“Other criminal cases: 30 cases with 54 suspects, 20 cases were charged to court, 10 cases are under Investigation, 6 cases were successfully prosecuted and 10 suspects convicted, ” he stated.
He gave detailed accounts of notable cases, such as on criminal conspiracy and armed robbery:
On 12th July 2025, at about 0915 hours, one 35 years old Abdulkadir Garba, residing at DP 21, behind Federal Secretariat, Bauchi, reported to the ‘B’ Division Police Headquarters, that on that same date, at about 0200 hours, an unidentified group of 4 persons, armed with dangerous weapons, unlawfully entered his residence and robbed him of his valuables, including one Samsung S23 smartphone valued at #1.2 million, one iphone 14 Pro Max valued at #1.4 million, one Tecno Android phone valued at #380,000, one HP Specter 360 Laptop valued at #1.2 million, and coerced him into transferring the sum of #3.3 million into their moniepoint bank account.
On receiving the report, a team of detectives visited the scene and preliminary investigation identified and arrested the suspects in connection with the incident.
They were 21 years old Isma’il Garba of Nasarawa Jahun, Bauchi; 20 years old Mohammed Adamu of Fadaman Mada, Bauchi; 26 years old Khalifa Dauda of Gwandara, keffi, Nasarawa state; 20 years old Bisalla Adamu of Gwandara, Keffi Nasarawa state; 20 years old Yusuf Aliyu of unguwan hausawa, Masaka, Nasarawa state; 21 years old Abdulrahman Abubakar of Masaka, Nasarawa state; 18 years old Ahmed Ibrahim of kofar Gombe, Gombe Road, Bauchi; 19 years old Isma’il Iliyasu of Makama new extension, Bauchi; and 25 years old Saifullah Mohammed of Kandahar, Bauchi.
During Investigation, one Macro pistol with 15 rounds of 9mm live ammunition was recovered.
In another development, on 21st August 2025, at about 1610 hours, the command detectives attached to the safer highway, conducted a stop- and- search operation along Bauchi-Jos road and intercepted an ash colour Toyota Camry LE, with registration number plate KUJ-576, driven by a 32 year old Salisu Ibrahim, residing at No. 29 Lagos Street, Makurdi, Benue State. Upon questioning, the driver could not provide a satisfactory account of his identity or vehicle ownership.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect specialises in automobile theft and has perpetrated this crime in various locations. It was established that he had stolen the vehicle from Rivers State and was en-route to Adamawa state to dispose it.
The suspect is believed to have been involved in the theft of several vehicles, including a Mercedes- Benz, in the past.
On going Investigations will culminate in the profiling of the suspect, who will subsequently face charges in court for being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Also, on the same date, at about 1400 hours, detectives attached to Jema’are Police Divisional Headquarters, apprehended 44 years old Stanley Lukeman, of No. 106 Ibiom Street, Awka, Anambra state. Stanley Lukeman was a dismissed Army personnel, who was arrested driving a volkswagen vento saloon vehicle without a license number plate, claiming to have purchased it from Niger Republic.
His arrest followed the recovery of a suspected stolen mercedes-benze and volkswagen golf motor vehicle from one Umar Aliyu, who alleged that he had acquired the vehicle from Stanley Lukeman.
During Investigation, the principal suspect, Stanley Lukeman, confessed to the theft of the recovered vehicles, stating he lured a temporary driver, one Mu’azu Yunusa, of Unguwan Nasarawa, Yobe State, where he absconded with the car en-route from Yobe State to Jos, Plateau State.
Investigations are on going to gather further details and to identify the rightful owner of the volkswagen golf motor vehicle. Following this, the suspects will be profiled and charged accordingly in court.
Exhibits recovered during the period under review were: 1 pump action, 1 motor vehicle camry edition, 1 volkswagen, 1 mercedes-benze C-180, 1 Wagolf, 1 volkswagen vento, 1 keke napep, one TVS motorcycle, 1 Bajaj motorcycle, 4 plasma TV, one laptop, 1 axe, 60 bags of illicit fertilizer, 1 Touchscreen laptop, #38 million, one Techno Spark, 1 Infinix Hot, reasonable quantity of electric cable valued at #200,000, 3 iPhone pro max, 1 samsung galaxy, 23 bags of cement, 90 bags of pepper, 1 ipad techno, one POS machine ( moniepoint ).
The CP emphasised that the period under review presented challenges, nonetheless the tenacity, dedication and commitment of officers, in synergy with other security agencies, have been instrumental in sustaining relative peace within the state.
Aliyu acknowledged the efforts of the media as a shared commitment with the police to safeguarding the lives and property of residents of the state.
“As we look ahead, we must continue to strengthen our commitment and preparedness to cultivate a crime-free environment, ” he concluded.
