The Hadejia Police detectives have foiled an attempt of vandalizing a 15 numbered transformers and cable wires worth N7million from the hands of the vandals.
A statement from the Jigawa Police Command’s PPRO, SP Lawan Shi’isu stated On the 18/08/2025, at about 0100hrs, ‘B’ Division Hadejia received a report that some unpatriotic individuals were vandalizing an electric transformer at Matsaro Quarters, Hadejia Local Government Area.
Upon receiving the report, a patrol team swiftly condone the areas where all the suspects were apprehended for an on-the-spot assessment, and arrest of the perpetrators.
During the operations a laptop computer and Vivo handset were recovered from the hands of the suspect’s.
On their arrival, the following suspects were apprehended: The suspects are Haruna Musa ‘m’ age 36yrs, Hussaini Innocent ‘m’ age 23yrs, Abubakar Yakubu ‘m’ age 27yrs, and Zakariyya Mohammed ‘m’ age 20yrs.
Others include Mamman Danladi ‘m’ age 27yrs, Khalifa Yahaya ‘m’ age, 18yrs and Ibrahim Mohammed ‘m’ age 20yrs.
The statement indicated that all the suspects are from various addresses in Bauchi, Kano, and Jigawa states.
On investigation, the suspects confessed to conspiring among themselves on different occasions and vandalizing fifteen electric transformers in various locations within Hadejia Emirate, including Auyaka village, Gandun Sarki quarters, Shagari quarters, Jama’are quarters, Agumu quarters, Gawon Dogari quarters, Old Motor Park, and Matsaro quarters, all in Hadejia LGA, as well as Jabo village in K/Hausa LGA and Yamide village in Auyo LGA.
The suspects further revealed that they had sold the vandalized transformer to one Idris Nuhu ‘m’ age 35yrs and Abdullahi Idris ‘m’ age 22yrs both of Makara Huta Quarters, Hadejia LGA, for ₦380,000, whom were all arrested.
The statement further said all the suspects have confessed to delivering the transformer to one individual in Kano State and selling it for six hundred and eighty thousand naira.
Efforts are being intensified to apprehended the fleeing suspects and receivers.
The case has been transfered to court for prosecution.
In a related development, On the 02/09/2025, at about 0830hrs, a distress call was received at Bamaina Division reporting that, on that same date at about 0600hrs, one Sani Sa’idu ‘m’ age 25yrs of Bamaina town, B/Kudu LGA, had invited and conspired with his friend, one Isah Isyaku ‘m’ age 25yrs of Hadejia Road, Kano State, to trespass into the residence of one individual and vandalize armored cable wire valued at seven million naira.
Upon receiving the report, detectives promptly responded and arrested the suspects.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to vandalizing the said cable wire and transporting it to a classroom at Junior Secondary School Bamaina, where it was burned.
The suspect further confessed to trespassing into a house of one Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m,’ a staff of the Jigawa State Academy of Gifted Bamaina school stealing a laptop computer valued at four hundred and eighty thousand naira, a Vivo handset valued at fifty-seven thousand naira, in addition with money totalling twenty thousand naira.
Exhibits have been recovered, and the suspect mentioned one individual from Kano State as the receiver.
The case is currently under Investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Jigawa State, CP Dahiru Muhammad, reaffirmed that there is no place for criminals to hide in the state and that anyone found will be drastically dealt within the armbit of the law.
The CP therefore urged the good citizens of Jigawa state to promptly report any acts of vandalism in their communities for police prompt action.
