Nasarawa Govt To Deploy Technology In Tackling Crimes

The Nasarawa State government in a frantic move to curb the rising wave of insecurity in the state has taken steps to use technology in addressing insecurity.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba gave the hint during September biennial press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) centre along Makurdi road on Thursday 4th,September 2025.
The SSA averred that the state government was on top of the situation to curb the rising wave of crimes and criminality in the state.
When asked about the increasing cases of kidnapping and killings he cited the anti kidnap law in the state.
He noted that the state executive had done the needful likewise the state assembly, he added that the enforcement of the law remains in the hand of security agencies in the state implementation remains with the state Ministry of Justice.
“The state government is doing it best and has entered into agreement with security experts to deploy the use of technology like drones and CCTV camera to nip the bud to the barest minimum,” he said.
The SSA to the state governor explained that scores were convicted for involvement in kidnapping activities in the state,
The State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Isaac Danladi at the time of filing this report did not respond to calls.
While commenting on the pockets of criminality like phone snatching at the underpass, Comrade Peter Ahemba said the state government had deployed the Nasarawa- State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) to tackle the new trend of robbery in the state capital.
Speaking on the recent destruction caused by flood disaster in flood prone areas like Keana road and part of the state capital, Ahemba stated that measures had been taken by the Bureau for Rural Development and the State ministry of Environment and Natural resources to take stock of all flood-related destructions in the state.
According to the SSA, the devastation also involved public buildings, electric poles, etc.
