In a sweeping disciplinary action, Kano State governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate dismissal of two Senior Special Assistants over serious allegations of misconduct, including facilitating the bail of a notorious drug baron and diverting palliative grains meant for the public.
The announcement was made on Saturday in a press statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, was sacked after an investigative committee found him culpable in the controversial bail of drug kingpin Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
The committee’s findings, backed by Sharada’s own testimony, identified him as the mastermind behind the release. He has been ordered to return all government property and warned against presenting himself as a state official.
Similarly, Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant, Cabinet Office lost his position following his arrest in 2024 for allegedly rebagging and diverting palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada. Roba is currently facing charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.
Both dismissed aides have until Monday, August 11, 2025, to hand over all government property in their possession.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser on Drainages, Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, was cleared of all wrongdoing by a separate investigative panel.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, urging all public officials to maintain integrity in their roles. He also cautioned the public against engaging the dismissed aides in any matter concerning the state government, warning that doing so would be at their own risk.
