The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has flag-off the construction of 24.5Km Wamba- Waiye-Dengi-Alizaga road.
He said the 24.5Km road in fulfilment of his covenant with the people of Nasarawa State.
“You are aware, since our assumption of office in May, 2019, we have continued to provide roads in our infrastructural development programmes, also covering markets, electrification, among others.
In particular, we have constructed rural roads in most of our rural areas in order to create inter-connectivity among our communities with proven potentials for socio-economic development”.
According to Governor Abdullahi Sule, “this is in line with our policy of opening opportunities for improved economic activities and wellbeing of the people of Nasarawa State”.
“I need to point out that government recognises the significance of opening our rural roads, as it provides the enablement for the transportation of agricultural produce and other economic commodities from the remote parts to markets in urban centres.
“This is why our administration over the last six (6) years has continued to construct rural roads in order to actualize our dream of opening vistas of opportunities for the rural dwellers”.
Accordingly, we have conceived the idea for the construction of this road which is considered critical in our development endeavour.
It is for this reason that government awarded the construction of 24.5km Wamba-Waiye-Dengi-Alizaga roads to Centerfield Engineering Limited at the cost of Nine Billion, Sixty-one Million, Six Hundred and Twenty-seven Thousand Naira (N9,061,627,000.00), under the supervision of the Nasarawa State Bureau for Rural Development.
The State governor said the project, when completed will serve as a vital economic corridor, connecting communities and boosting agriculture, commerce, and mobility.
“I, therefore, urge the contractor to carry-out this construction in line with specifications and safety standards,” Governor Sule said.
He appealed to the host communities along the road corridor to accord the contractor the cooperation and support required for the successful execution of the project.
“You are expected to protect lives and equipment, as well as maintain peace while the construction lasts. To this end, let me reiterate the commitment of this administration to continue to provide infrastructural development for socio-economic development of our dear State.
“The construction of this road is a testament to our resolve to leave no community behind in our development endeavour, to ensure that development reaches the grassroots. It is our desire that we have a prosperous, secured and connected Nasarawa State.
“On this note, it is now my pleasure to flag-off the construction of 24.5km Wamba-Waiye-Dengi-Alizaga road in Wamba-Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Areas for the benefit of our people,” he concluded.
