In a significant move towards promoting women empowerment in Gombe State, the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Gombe State chapter is partnering with the state ministry of women affairs to initiate economic empowerment programmes for women.
The association leaders unveiled this plan when they paid a courtesy visit to the state commissioner for women affairs, Asma’u Iganus.
Chairperson of the association Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz who led the team explained that the visit aimed to foster collaboration and boost women empowerment initiatives in the state.
The officers wives mentioned some of their proposed activities to include the upcoming Gallant Women Drivers (GWD) training initiative designed to train women on driving and security diplomacy.
They added that the programme would enhance women’s skills and confidence, particularly in the areas of transportation and security.
In her response, the commissioner, Asma’u Iganus, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it aligns with the state’s goals for women’s empowerment.
She promised to provide full support to the association and to also connect them with relevant stakeholders who can offer sponsorship and guidance.
The commissioner encouraged the association to take their activities seriously opining that their programmes would be game-changer for women and the entire state.
