GOH Front 2027 Urges PDP To Reconsider Zoning Decision
By Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim (GOH) Front 2027 has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to revisit its decision to zone the presidential ticket to the South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It made the appeal Thursday in Kaduna while submitting a letter to the Kaduna State chairman of the PDP, Edward Marshal.
According to the group’s state coordinator, Aliyu Mohammed (Achili), zoning the presidential ticket would limit the party’s chances of winning the election because it would deny capable aspirants from other regions the opportunity to contest.
Achili emphasised that throwing the ticket open would give the party a stronger footing ahead of the 2027 polls.
The GOH Front 2027 believes that each and every Nigerian party loyalist willing and capable should be allowed to contest. This, they argue, would not only increase the party’s chances of winning but also bring in fresh ideas and perspectives. The group is confident that an open ticket would be beneficial for the party’s growth and success.
In a related development, the Kaduna PDP Chairman, Edward Marshal, emphasised that the PDP is the only party with the structure to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that opposition forces would inevitably rally behind the PDP due to its strong foundation and widespread presence across the country.
Marshal’s assertion is based on the party’s extensive nationwide spread and membership base. He believes that this positions the PDP well to confront the APC in the 2027 general elections. According to him, no other party has the same level of structure and presence as the PDP.
The PDP chairman’s statement has sparked discussions about the party’s chances of winning the 2027 elections. Many are eager to see how the party will capitalize on its strengths and weaknesses to emerge victorious. The GOH Front 2027’s appeal is part of the ongoing debates and discussions within the party.
Responding to the GOH Front 2027’s appeal, Marshal assured the group that their request would be transmitted to the national leadership for consideration. This shows that the party is open to feedback and willing to consider different perspectives.
The PDP’s national convention, slated for November, is expected to reposition the party and attract more members. Marshal believes that the convention would send a strong signal that the PDP is ready to reclaim power. The party is confident that with unity of purpose and proper mobilization, it would provide Nigerians with a credible alternative.
The GOH Front 2027’s appeal and the PDP’s response highlight the ongoing dynamics within the party. As the 2027 elections approach, the party’s decisions and actions will be crucial in determining its chances of success.
