Three Lawmaker’s Booed In Ringim Jigawa State

By Tahir Mohammed, Dutse

Three lawmakers representing their respective constituencies in Ringim local government area of Jigawa State have received public disapproval from their constituents when they were booed at the resumed Citizens’ Engagement Programne tagged ‘ Gwamnati da Jama’a’ on Sunday in Ringim Area Council of Jigawa state.

The booed politicians who were: the member representing the area in the State House of Assembly Hon. Aminu Sankara; the member representing Taura/Ringim Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Sa’ad Wada Taura, and the Senator representing Jigawa North-west Senatorial District, Babangida Husaini.

Trouble started when the name of Sankara was called out to the podium to come and address the audience to outline his achievements. Though the lawmaker, generally known for vocal approach was not physically present at the jam-packed local stadium, the shout of “Ba ma Yi, Ba ma yi’ (meaning , we don’t want) rented the air.

Similar treatment was meted out to both Taura and Sen. Husaini, who were physically present at the stadium, but prevented from addressing the large crowd that gathered at the stadium to list their achievements.

It was gathered that the development angered the Governor Umar Namadi, who was the Special Guest at the occasion, but he downplayed his reaction to the development.

Eyewitness accounts said the rep. member tried on several occasion to address the gathering, but each time he tried to address, the audience would spontaneously shout him down with Ba ma Yi, Ba ma yi’. At last he was found to abandon the speech to take his seat in the VIP area.

Similarly, Sen. Husaini from Kazaure local government area, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on North-west Development Commission, (NWDC) was not allowed to address the audience.

DAyLIGHT REPORTERS has reliably gathered that both offences of the two federal lawmakers accused by their constituents poor representation as the people claimed they were not feeling the impact of their representations at Abuja.

Indeed Sen. Babangida was specifically accused of concentrating his development projects in the nearby Gumel Local Government Area – the headquarters of the senatorial district.
