The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has lost his elder brother, the Wamban Dawakin Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Pate.
He died late Wednesday night and was buried in Zaria on Thursday afternoon according to Islamic rites after a funeral prayer, conducted at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria which was attended by hundreds of people from within and outside the Zazzau Emirate, including a former governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero; Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness, Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli; chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr Jamil Ahmad Muhammad; members of the Zazzau Emirate’s traditional council, district heads, other titleholders, Ulamas among many others.
The late Alhaji Aminu Pate was the father of the speaker’s personal assistant, Yahaya Aminu Pate.
A statement issued by the Media and Publicity Office, Zazzau Emirate, on Thursday morning announced the death.
It partly read, “With profound sadness and total submission to the will of Allah SWT, Zazzau Emirate announces the passing of Wamban Dawakin Zazzau Alhaji Aminu Pate. He passed away at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika, Zaria, last night after a period of illness.
“The late Alhaji Aminu Pate was a retired director with the Kaduna State Ministry of Local Government, having served in various local governments across the state.
He is survived by his wives, children, and grandchildren.”
In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi on Thursday, Speaker Abbas described the late Alhaji Aminu Pate as a dependable brother, a dedicated father, a generous human being, and a devout Muslim, who gave his life to his family, community, and humanity as a whole.
He recalled the late Pate’s efforts to unite the family adding that his brother was widely respected as a community and religious leader.
According to Speaker Abbas, the late Wamban Dawakin Zazzau was an epitome of selflessness, kindness, honesty, integrity, and an inspiration to the upcoming generation.
The Speaker condoled with his nephew and PA, Yahaya, and his siblings over the loss of their father who he said would be surely missed, adding that his death had left a huge vacuum in the royal family in the Zazzau Emirate.
The Speaker prayed to Allah (SWT) to forgive and grant Alhaji Aminu Pate, the late Wamban Dawakin Zazzau, Jannatul Firdaus.
The late Alhaji Aminu Pate, born in Zaria Local Government of Kaduna State in 1958.
He was survived by three wives and 27 children.
He started his career as a primary school teacher and became an assistant local government officer in 1979, rising to senior assistant secretary in 1983. He was appointed as a zonal secretary of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) in 1985.
His service to the fatherland took him back to the Kaduna State Local Government Service Board, acquiring more experience in local government administration, culminating in his promotion to the position of Director of Personal Management (DPM) in the year 2000.
He was at different times the acting chairman of Soba Local Government and the secretary of Jaba Local Government, respectively. During his service years. Late Alhaji Aminu Pate worked in 18 out of the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.
The late Wamban Dawakin Zazzau retired from the civil service in the year 2012. He was conferred with the traditional title of Wamban Dawakin Zazzau by the Zazzau Emirate Council on July 1, 2011, under the reign of the late Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Shehu Idris. He was assigned as the District Head of Igabi in 2012.
