Former Oyo State governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has been nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He was nominated by the Olubadan-in-Council.
His nomination followed the completion of the 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025 after being on the throne for one year.
Before his death, Late Oba Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, ascended the Throne after the reign of Oba Dr Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
According to reports, the nomination was moved by the Balogun Olubadan, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, seconded by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole, during the Olubadan-in-Council meeting held at the Oke-Aremo Palace of the Olubadan.
Oba Ajibola was quoted saying after the meeting that all members of the Olubadan-in-Council had signed off on Ladoja’s nomination.
He disclosed that Ladoja’s name would be forwarded to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for official endorsement and preparation for the coronation ceremony, where the staff and Certificate of office will be presented.
