The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Gombe State Command, has called for stronger collaboration with the Gombe State government to improve postal and logistics services across the state.
The state Postal Manager, Mr Daniel Nuhu Balani, made the call when he led a delegation of NIPOST officials on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Ministry of Information, Strategy and Culture, Ambassador Moses Kyari Bolda.
Balani said the proposed partnership would focus on improving postal and logistics services, strengthening financial inclusion, enhancing postal addressing and exploring new opportunities for revenue generation.
He said NIPOST was particularly interested in working with the state government to make postal services a preferred channel for delivering official documents, parcels and other government-related items across Gombe State.
The state Postal Manager also disclosed that NIPOST was working to strengthen its financial services in the state while advancing the implementation of alphanumeric postcodes.
According to him, improved postal addressing would help in the identification and efficient delivery of letters and parcels across the state.
Balani added that NIPOST was collaborating with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the Gombe State Mass Transport Services to improve logistics, connectivity and overall service delivery.
The delegation also proposed the production of official postage stamps featuring major projects and development initiatives of the Gombe State government.
Balani explained that the initiative would showcase the achievements of the state government while providing an additional opportunity for revenue generation.
Responding, Commissioner Moses Kyari Bolda thanked the NIPOST delegation for the visit and congratulated them on the initiative.
He assured the delegation of the Ministry’s readiness to support initiatives that would promote effective service delivery and strengthen collaboration among government institutions.
Bolda stressed the importance of strategic partnerships in improving communication, logistics, economic activities and public services in the state.
The commissioner expressed confidence that the engagement would further strengthen institutional cooperation and position postal services as an important contributor to efficient logistics, financial inclusion, economic development and improved public service delivery in Gombe State.
