The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that 286,697 applicants have been shortlisted for the next stage of its ongoing recruitment exercise, which will be conducted through an online Computer Based Test (CBT) between September 14 and 21, 2025.
The recruitment process, which began with an advertisement in December 2024, initially declared 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. A total of 573,523 applications were received, with less than half advancing to the CBT stage after strict document verification.
According to the Customs National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the online test reflects the Service’s commitment to fairness and transparency. Candidates can take the exam at any location with reliable internet access but must use a laptop or desktop with a webcam, as the platform is not enabled for mobile phones.
The NCS stressed that a facial recognition system will be used during login, urging candidates to maintain a neat appearance. The CBT application is highly sensitive to background noise, body movement, or window switching during the test, and such actions could lead to disqualification.
To ensure proper preparation, the Service has also scheduled a mandatory pre-test session two days before the main CBT, with separate links to be sent to all shortlisted candidates.
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also take an additional CBT in a later stage of the recruitment.
The NCS assured the public that the process remains strictly merit-driven and warned applicants to avoid fake news or requests for payment, as all updates will be shared only through verified official platforms.
