IGP Meets Chinese Security Chiefs, Pushes For Stronger Cooperation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is representing Nigeria at the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) holding from September 16 to 18, 2025, in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China.
The invitation came from the government of the People’s Republic of China. The forum gathered ministers of security, chiefs of police, law enforcement leaders, and experts from around the world to discuss ways of tackling transnational crime, building stronger partnerships, and improving global public safety.
As part of the programme, IGP Egbetokun will deliver a keynote address on September 18, 2025 on the theme: “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.” His address will highlight Nigeria’s ongoing counter crime strategies, policing reforms, and collaborations with international partners to disrupt cross border criminal networks and protect communities.
Ahead of the forum, the IGP will also meet with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr Qi Yanjun, on September 15, 2025. Their discussion will focus on intelligence sharing, capacity building, and strengthening Nigeria China security cooperation.
The Nigeria Police Force says IGP Egbetokun’s participation reflects the country’s strong commitment to international security collaboration, intelligence driven policing, and proactive responses to emerging threats. It also reaffirms Nigeria’s role as a responsible global partner in shaping the future of public security.
