The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has received the Chief of Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, with both security chiefs pledging to strengthen cooperation in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.
Air Marshal Aneke visited the Force Headquarters on Wednesday, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
During the meeting, the Chief of Air Staff praised the longstanding professional relationship between the two institutions and acknowledged the support provided by the NPF Air Wing to the Nigerian Air Force.
He stressed the need for continued cooperation, particularly in joint security operations, intelligence sharing and increased air support for Police operations.
The two sides discussed several areas of cooperation, including aerial surveillance and reconnaissance, tactical deployment, medical evacuation, joint training and improved operational coordination.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other violent crimes across the country.
In his remarks, IGP Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepening its partnership with the Nigerian Air Force through joint training, capacity building, intelligence-led operations and sustained operational support.
The IGP also stressed the importance of personnel welfare, effective command-and-control and coordinated security planning, particularly ahead of major national events and the 2027 general elections.
He further called for stronger protection of critical national infrastructure, improved logistics and response capabilities, as well as regular reviews of joint operations to make them more effective.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Nigerian Air Force, including the Chief of Training, Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Dari; Chief of Operations, Air Vice Marshal P.N. Amadi; Chief of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal N.N. Ananaba; Air Provost Marshal, Air Vice Marshal J.I. Ukeh; and Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal A.A. Martins.
Other members of the NAF delegation included the Director of Operations, Air Vice Marshal A.O. Bamidele; Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore E.A. Ejodame; Principal Air Staff Officer to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Commodore H.I. Eze; and Principal Staff Officer Coordination to the Chief of the Air Staff, Group Captain F.O. Olanrewaju.
The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to strengthening partnerships with sister security agencies, improving inter-agency coordination and developing a more integrated security response to protect lives, property and national assets across Nigeria.
