The Gombe State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of a 53 year old woman for drug dealing, a suspected tricycle thief, and four armed robbery suspects in different operations across the state.

According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the operations took place on September 8, 2025.

At about 6:30 p.m., a patrol team attached to the Anti Violence Squad arrested one Rakiya Ahmed, aged 53, at Barunde Quarters, By pass Area, Gombe.

She was found with eight blocks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspect and exhibits are now in custody, and the case will be transferred to the appropriate unit for prosecution.

Earlier in the day, around 9:35 a.m., detectives from Gona Division arrested 36 year old Auwal Suleiman of Bagadaza Quarters with a tricycle suspected to have been stolen. Investigations revealed the tricycle had been stolen from Wuro Biriji, By pass Quarters, Gombe.

The rightful owner has since been identified, and further investigation is ongoing.

At about 3:00 p.m., police also arrested four young men, 18 year olds Ibrahim Saleh, Umar Isah, and Hassan Yau, alongside 22 year old Haruna Isah for robbing one Bello Safiyanu of Hayin Kwari Misau Quarters.

Armed with machetes, the suspects robbed him of food items, cash, and a handset.
