The Gombe State Police Command has announced that it has deployed enough personnel and resources across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch free Maulud celebration and procession scheduled for tomorrow.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, said the security arrangements cover all gathering venues, procession routes, and other key areas. According to him, conventional police, tactical teams, intelligence officers, and operational equipment have been mobilized to guarantee the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the event.
The command reminded the public that the ban on carrying dangerous weapons in public places is still in force.
“Defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted, as no form of thuggery, violence, or disturbance will be tolerated,” it said.
In the same vein, residents were reminded of the restriction on motorcycle movement between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am. The police explained that the measure is to reduce criminal activities and keep public order during and after the celebration.
The command urged procession organisers, religious leaders, and stakeholders to take responsibility for the conduct of their followers and ensure compliance with all security guidelines.
The commissioner of Police also called on residents to remain law abiding, cooperate with security personnel, and report any suspicious movement or persons.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the Maulud celebration, the police assured the people of Gombe State of its commitment to peace, security, and the protection of lives and property.
