The Gombe State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in crime prevention with the arrest of several suspects involved in theft, armed conspiracy, and possession of a firearm.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, the arrests took place between 17th and 19th September 2025 across Gombe State.
On 18th September, four suspects were arrested at Three Arm Zone, Bauchi Road, with 226 pieces of iron rods. They included Sule Isah (47), Mohammed Aliyu (40), Justine Yila (26), and Sani Job (26). The men confessed to the crime and remain in custody.
Also on 18th September, police arrested Tukur Mohammed (32) in Bomala, Akko LGA, with a stolen red Boxer motorcycle. He confessed and named his accomplice, Ahmadu Buba, who is still at large.
In another case, police arrested 18-year-old Abubakar Auwal alias Abba after he and his partner, now at large, stole a black TVS motorcycle from Dassa Village, Balanga LGA. The motorcycle has been recovered.
On the same day, police foiled an attempt to steal two cows in Talasse District, Balanga LGA. A suspicious white Hummer bus was intercepted at Bangu Village, where ropes, cow dung, and other items were found. The cows were later recovered from the bush and handed back to their owners.
Also On 19th September, police operatives arrested three young men, Shamsudeen Haruna (22), Tahir Ismail Ahmad (20), and Muhammed Abdullahi (18), all residents of Doma, Gombe. They were found in possession of a pistol. Investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, praised the patrol teams for their efforts and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements.
