The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has been praised for his latest move to support livestock farmers and rural communities through the construction of a modern veterinary hospital in the state.

The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum (ACYLF), in a public statement, commended the Governor for what they described as a “visionary project” that will not only improve animal healthcare but also help boost food production and reduce poverty in rural areas.

The hospital is being built under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project and is expected to serve thousands of livestock farmers across Gombe State and beyond. For many years, rural communities in the North have struggled with limited access to veterinary services, leading to the loss of animals and income.

“This hospital will restore hope and economic stability to households that depend on livestock like cattle, goats, poultry, and sheep,” said Dunijir Gatama, Chairman of ACYLF.

He added that the project supports President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on farming, food security, and job creation.

Gatma said the project also shows how investing in agriculture can promote peace and unity across the country. “Livestock farming connects communities across Nigeria. Supporting it means supporting national unity and development,” he said.

The forum also encouraged other northern state governors to learn from Governor Yahaya’s approach and invest more in agriculture, rural development, and food systems.

The veterinary hospital is expected to serve as a model for other states, helping to improve animal health, support farmers, and grow the agricultural sector in the region.

ACYLF reaffirmed its support for policies that bring people together, reduce hunger, and improve lives across the North and the country at large.
