Borno Governor Zulum Drops Two Commissioners, Appoints Professor Balami As Chair, Secondary Education Board

By Juliet Vincent

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has relieved two commissioners of their appointments to revitalise governance and enhance service delivery.

The reshufulment is contained in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Thursday.

The officials affected are the commissioners for Environment and Intergovernmental and Special Duties.

The statement noted that Zulum expressed appreciation to the two officials and wished them the best in their future endeavours.

The governor, however, announced that Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan will replace the two relieved officers.

Meanwhile, Governor Zulum also approved Professor Yusuf Gana Balami’s appointment as the Executive Chairman of Borno State Secondary Education Board.

Balami, Professor of Education Psychology, hails from Hawul, in the southern part of the state.

He worked with Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988, and later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri as graduate assistant and he became a professor in 2014.

He is a member of several professional bodies and has authored countless publications as lead author or co-author.

Zulum congratulated Professor Balami and urged him to deploy his years of experience in the education sector, both as an administrator and an academic, in reshaping the quality of secondary education in Borno.

The statement also added that all appointments have been communicated to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
