Bishop Kukah Donates Wheelchairs To Sokoto UDUTH

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has led a delegation from the Diocese to donate wheelchairs to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) Sokoto, a statement by Father Pascal confirmed.
Bishop Kukah who was accompanied by
the Dean of Sokoto Diocese, Revd Fr Jude Okpanci, Sr Ann, OP, Director of Holy Family Mother and Child Hospital, Revd. Fr Matthew Megwa, the vice Chancellor of the Diocese, and Mr William Dalogate, the Director of JDPC Sokoto Diocese as well as other staff from JDPC were warmly received by the hospital management, led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Anas Ahmad Sabir.
Addressing the management of UDUTH, Bishop Kukah said, he has a long history relating with Sokoto from Sultan Dasuki, late President Shagari who was like a father to him.
“So when I came here, I remembered when I came to Sokoto many years back, Bafarawa was the governor then and he offered me land and I said what am I going to do with land in Sokoto?
“Although, I filled the form and miraculously, about 5 or 6 years later, I found myself in Sokoto as the Bishop of Catholic Diocese,” Bishop Kukah recounted
Registering his satisfaction on sighting Bishop Kukah, the CMD, Prof. Sabir, expressed deep appreciation to the Diocese for the timely gesture, noting UDUTH had benefited in the past from the generosity of prominent Nigerians and organisations, including Gen. TY Danjuma, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and several NGOs.
According to Prof. Sabir, Bishop Kukah’s contribution, however stands out as a significant act of solidarity and compassion which reflects the Church’s commitment to human dignity and the common good.
Continuing, Prof Sabir, the UDUTH CMD highlighted the hospital’s strides in healthcare delivery, referencing ongoing groundbreaking medical services, such as renal transplant, open-heart surgery, and other advanced procedures, which continue to position the teaching hospital as a leading medical institution in Nigeria.
According to Fr Paschal, the donation being one amongst the numerous others by the Diocese of Sokoto is yet another expression of Bishop Kukah’s consistent advocacy and practical commitment to uplifting the poor, the sick, and the marginalised in the society.
