In the countdown to the grand commissioning and dedication of Southern Atlantic University (SAU) scheduled for August 29–30, the Akwa Ibom Diaspora and Unity Forum (AKDUF) has lauded the institution’s founder, Pastor Bassey James, for establishing the first private university in Ibibio Land.
The non – indigenes residence in Uyo have also commended the founder for the bold step, and appealed to it’s management to make the tuition affordable to all Nigerians and beyond.
Elder Emeka Chibo, a businessman in the metropolis said, the peaceful deposition of the State, and the location of Southern Atlantic University provide beautiful ambience for the students community.
In a message to SAU’s management, AKDUF’s Director of Communications, Engr. Udo-Nne Luke, congratulated Pastor James for his courage and resilience in turning the vision into reality in record time.
He described the university not only as a hub for education, research, and knowledge advancement but, also as a catalyst for regional economic growth, societal impact, and community development.
Engr. Luke encouraged other Akwa Ibomites to contribute their expertise towards the university’s development, pledging AKDUF’s support in providing technical assistance and driving scientific innovations.
According to the institution’s bulletin, SAU is set to emerge as a center of academic excellence, offering globally competitive undergraduate programmes in line with the contemporary labour market demands.
The university will offer an array of approved courses including; Accounting, Business Administration, Hospitality & Tourism Management.
Others are; Criminology and Security Studies, Political Science, Petroleum Science, International Relations/Diplomacy, Economics, ICT, Microbiology, Physics with Electronics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Cyber Security.
Acoording to the founder, Pastor James, the university’s vision is to deliver quality education anchored on discipline, innovation, and moral values, equipping students with practical skills for global competitiveness, while remaining accessible to the masses.
“This University will be zero – tolerance to Indiscipline and social vices, urging Akwa Ibomites and other Nigerians to take advantage of the inter – disciplinary culture of academic programmes offered by the varsity to improve themselves.
“We invite members of the public, prospective students, and education stakeholders to join us for this landmark event”.
The commissioning at the main campus will be attended by prominent Akwa Ibom indigenes and distinguished Nigerians.
With its establishment, Uyo is expected to experience an upsurge in educational opportunities, economic activity, and a vibrant students culture in the years ahead.
