A’Ibom Kidnap Kingpin, Okon Asuquo Udo Nabbed

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of a notorious kidnap suspect, Okon Asuquo Udo, linked to several high-profile abductions in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspect, a native of Ube village in Okobo Local Government Area, was captured on August 13, 2025, following credible intelligence and a swift operation by operatives of the command.
Udo, who had been on the police wanted list for months, is alleged to be the mastermind behind the kidnap of a Paramount Ruler in October 2024 and the abduction of the wife of an executive chairman in November 2024. He is also suspected to have played active roles in a string of abductions across Oron, Mbo, and Okobo local government areas.
The suspect was eventually tracked down and arrested in his home village, bringing to an end his long period of evasion.
Police authorities said discreet investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of his gang and recover their weapons.
