There was pandemonium on Wednesday night as fire reportedly razed Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation station in Yola, Adamawa State.
Our correspondent reports that many escaped death as the explosion raged.
An eyewitness who begged for anonymity explained that they were attracted by the heavy sounds in the city along bank road opposite Union Bank in Adamawa State.
Reports say that the main cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained as Police and Army officers were already on ground to maintain safety, following the late arrival of fire service.
“The incident occurred while a tanker was offloading fuel at about 9pm,” the eyewitness added.
