A committee has been set up in Ningi local government area of Bauchi state by the caretaker chairman, Salisu Abdullahi Nasaru to look into the issues causing conflicts between fulani herdsmen and farmers as a result of encroachment and illegal allocation of lands in the area.
Media aide to the local government chairman, Usman Abdullahi Koli disclosed this in a press release issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said, the committee was set up to complement the efforts of the state government in addressing land disputes and to further prevent communal clashes like what happened recently in Misau local government where nine people were reportedly killed.
According to him, members of the committee who comprise of security agents, traditional leaders, representatives of fulani and farmers groups, will go round all wards in the area to sensitize communities not to engage in any kind of communal clashes.
The caretaker chairman therefore thanked the state governor for his commitment towards the well-being and the safety of his people.
