Plans has reach an advanced stage by the National Export Processing Council, ( NEPC) towards the establishment of an Export Processing Center in Jigawa, the NEPC Director- General, Mrs Nonye Ayeni stated while on courtesy visit on jigawa state Governor Umar Namadi at the govt House Dutse.
She also highlighted President Bola Ahmad Tinibu’s commitment to Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on agriculture and promoting non-oil economy.
Mrs. Ayeni commended Governor Namadi for Jigawa State’s remarkable achievements in hibiscus, sesame, gum arabic farming, and other cash crops production making it the leading producing state’s in the country.
Also brief Governor Namadi on the NEPC’s plan to establish an Export Processing Center in Jigawa State in line with President Bola Ahmad Tinibu’s commitment to Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on agriculture in diversification and promotion of non-oil economy.
She emphasized the NEPC’s longstanding collaboration with the Jigawa State Government, citing the commissioning of the COMTTRAJIGAWA Hibiscus processing company as an example.
Mrs. Ayeni emphasized the NEPC’s intention to expand production capacity, improve services, and train farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.
She mentioned plans to provide seedlings and certifications, as well as to enhance processing facilities by opening laboratories in the COMTTRAJIGAWA.
Responding Governor Namadi commended the NEPC and her entourage for finding it worthy to visit jigawa state.
Governor Namadi informed his August visitor on the efforts being put in place by his administration in getting all the state member’s of the farmers association were registered through an established database to improve farm implements distribution for improved agricultural practices.
According to Governor Namadi Jigawa State is open to investors who are interested in the agro-processing sector, with emphasis on agro allied investments who are willing to invest at our Maigatari Export Processing Zone.
He added that jigawa state is set to employ 1,444 extension workers to support farmers to enhance their agricultural production.
