One of the losers of the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his vow to support Atiku Abubakar towards victory at the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku emerged victorious at the presidential primary election on Saturday, 28th May.
Subsequently, Wike said he stands by his word to support whoever emerges as the presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the party’s primary.
In a tweet on Monday, Wike said he cannot abandon the PDP and will throw his weight behind the candidature of Atiku Abubakar
“I made a vow to the Peoples Democratic Party that I will support whoever emerges from the PDP presidential primaries and I am not going to go back on my word.
“We cannot abandon the PDP, we will be fully supporting Atiku Abubakar.” He tweeted.
Atiku had defeated Wike at the PDP’s presidential primary in Abuja on Saturday night.
During the election which held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday, Atiku polled 371 votes to defeat Wike, who got 237 votes; a former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, 70 votes; the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, 38 votes; the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, 20 votes; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, 14 votes and an ex-President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Sam Ohuabunwa, one vote.
