Jigawa Resettles 193 Borno Flood Victims, Expended N102m on 210 Victims of Majiya Tanker Explusion

Jigawa State Government In partnership with some NGO’s have resettled 193 Borno flood victims whom are now taking refuge in 15 different IDP camps in the state.

The Executive Secretary Jigawa State Emergency Relief Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mairiga made this known while briefing newsmen in Dutse on the activities of the agency.

Out of these number, 152 are females, 41 males, while 37 are married women.

Amongst the numbered, 23 were said to be infected with different diseases, but got treated with the assistance of both health officials of the state Ministry of Health and that of the NGOs.

Apart from accommodating the Borno flood victims, the Jigawa SEMA assisted the victims with 35 mattresses, 20 kettles, 10 big buckets, 10 big tanks for water, 20 brooms and twenty dustbins.

Shedding more lights, Dr. Mairiga stated that these victims were among the 5047 displaced and taking care of.

On the recent Majiya tanker explosion, Jigawa State Government in collaboration with the agency were able to spend at least N102million in the interim, out of which N60m was meant for procurement and disbursement of food items, while N42 million was used to assist the 210 victims with N200,000 each.

In addition, the agency settled hospital bills for the injured at Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Birnin-Kudu, Nguru, Azare, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano as well Dala Orthopedic, Kano.

Recall that Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has visited the 88 affected victims on their sick beds and gave their families a donation of N200,000 each and pledged State Government will bankrolled all their medical expenses.
