The ECFIRS, Zacch Adedeji PhD in his remarks as he responds to the Guinness Nigeria Ltd team acknowledged the importance of having a seamless relationship with businesses and companies like Guinness Nigeria Ltd. According to him “Guinness Nigeria is one of our important large taxpayers”, it is in the effort to strengthen such relationships the FIRS embarked on a transformative restructuring process. “Our mandate is to assess, collect and account for taxes, afterall, taxpayers are our only customers”.
The purpose of the restructuring is three fold:
– Improve Expertise amongst staff to enable them better serve taxpayers
– Provide a one stop shop for taxpayers, this will improve taxpayers customer experience
– Have Tax control and audit channelled through one port. This will help coordination and reduce multiple human interface.
He concluded by saying “Guinness Nigeria Ltd is one of the trees in our garden, sometimes we have to prune the weeds away to make the tree fruitful”, by doing so, we simply tax returns on investment. The more successful Guinness Nigeria Ltd is, the best it is for us.
