An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 36-year-old driver, Robert Njah, accused of the murder of Mrs Maria Ishoro while conveying her to her village in Cross River state.
Njah was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
The Magistrate, Mr W.A Salami, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered his remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Center, pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Salami subsequently adjourned the matter until April 14 for mention.
Earlier the Prosecutor, Sgt. Tope Adegbie, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 5, at Ogoja Area, Cross River.
He alleged that the defendant had caused the death of Mrs Maria Ishoro while conveying her to her village in Cross River state.
The prosecutor said that the corpse of Ishoro was found in a bush and the defendant was the last person seen with the deceased.
Adegbie said that the offences allegedly committed contravened Sections 222 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2022.
