The former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Dr Babangida Hussaini, has been declared the winner of the just-concluded Senatorial primary elections for the Jigawa North-West senatorial district.
The election was held at Gumel Emirate Foundation in Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa state.
Announcing the result, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mallam Mujitabba Sale Kwalam, said a total number of 635 votes was accredited while 605 votes were cast during the election and five votes were found invalid.
He explained that out of the total votes cast, Dr Babangida Hussaini, Walin Kazaure, scored 527 votes and Senator Abdullahi Ojo Gumel scored 73 votes respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the senatorial candidate, Dr Babangida Hussaini, thanked Governor Badaru Abubakar and the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) for giving him the mandate to contest the senatorial seat in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Dr. Hussaini commended the party supporters for their support and understanding during the exercise.
He pledged to operate an open-door policy if elected as Senator representing Jigawa North-West in the 2023 polls.
Dr Babangida Hussaini promised to execute meaningful development projects in line with the yearnings and aspirations of his constituents.
