Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno on Thursday launched a 500 housing project in Wala town, Gwoza Local Government Area, to provide shelter for families displaced by insurgency.
The governor said during the launch that the initiative was part of his campaign promise to rebuild and resettle displaced communities, and it includes critical infrastructure such as healthcare, education and water supply.
According to him, the project is expected to bring relief to families affected by the conflict in the region.
He emphasised the importance of quality work and warned contractors against compromising standards.
In addition to the housing project, Zulum also approved a N50-million empowerment package for 1,000 women farmers in the state.
He said each woman will receive N50,000 to help rejuvenate economic activities and livelihood.
“This initiative is expected to boost the economic prospects of women in the region and contribute to overall development of the state,” he said.
