Zamfara Governor Awards Full Scholarships to 30 Gifted Students
In a heartwarming gesture, Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, has offered full scholarships to 30 gifted students from the state who excelled in the National Examination Council (NECO) entrance exams.
The students, who are part of the Muhammad Kabir Danbaba Centre for Women and Youth Development program, were received by the governor at the Government House in Gusau.
Governor Lawal congratulated the students and their parents for bringing pride to Zamfara State, noting that their remarkable performance was a testament to the effectiveness of his administration’s declaration of emergency in the educational sector.
He revealed that many of the students with the highest entrance examination performance were from public schools, a feat he attributed to the ongoing renovation of over 300 fully equipped schools across the state and measures to train teachers to improve the quality of public school education.
The governor, who shared his personal experience of attending public schools, announced that the scholarship would cover all expenses for the 30 gifted students, ensuring that no parent would have to pay anything.
He emphasised that this was just the beginning, as his administration plans to continue offering support to all students in the state.
