In a groundbreaking celebration of International Youth Day, the Yobe Peace and Community Development Initiative (YOPCODI) and ActionAid Nigeria joined forces to host an inspiring event that highlighted the transformative power of digital engagement in driving real-world change.
The event, themed “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” brought together hundreds of young people from across the region to explore the potentials of digital tools in creating lasting impact.
Renowned experts and youth activists took the stage to share their insights and experiences, demonstrating that with the right mindset and tools, significant progress can be achieved.
The speakers highlighted the importance of digital literacy, online safety, and responsible social media usage, as well as the potential of digital tools for promoting social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability.
Baba Shehu, Board of Trustees chairman, and Muhammad Talba, Executive Director of YOPCODI, delivered a resounding call to action, urging youth to move beyond online activism and take tangible actions in their communities.
They emphasized the need for young people to leverage their digital skills and knowledge to address real-world problems and create positive impact.
“The youth are the future leaders of our world, and it is imperative that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive sustainable development said Baba Shehu. We must empower our young people to harness the power of digital technologies and create lasting change in their communities.”, Shehu said.
Muhammad Talba added, “The digital revolution is not just about technology; it’s about the people and the impact we can make. We must ensure that our youth are at the forefront of this revolution, driving change and creating a better future for all.”
