After more than 50 years without power, residents of Yan-Dadi community in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State are celebrating the long-awaited arrival of electricity, marking a significant milestone in the community’s history.
Na-Gane Maciji, a resident, expressed his joy, noting that the absence of electricity had hindered socio-economic growth for decades.
According to him, the newly installed power supply has revitalized businesses and improved the overall standard of living.
“We are overjoyed that, after more than five decades, we finally have electricity.
This has boosted commercial activities and enhanced our daily lives. We sincerely appreciate the present administration for providing this essential social amenity,” Maciji stated.
For Bala Lawal, a local barber, the impact of electricity has been transformative.
Previously reliant on manual clippers, he can now operate with electric clippers, significantly increasing his customer base and earnings.
“Before, I struggled with manual clippers, but now, with electricity, I use electric clippers, which have improved my work.
“I earn more money and can better provide for my family. I am grateful to the government for this transformation,” he said.
Beyond the electricity supply, the Chairman of Kusada Local Government, Rabi’u Aliyu, through the Director of Works and Housing, Haruna Abubakar, highlighted various developmental projects undertaken in the area.
These include the rehabilitation of over ten schools, mosques, and hospitals, as well as the construction of feeder roads. Additionally, local farmers have benefited from the distribution of fertilizers and essential farming tools.
The chairman reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that rural communities receive vital infrastructure to improve their quality of life.
With these developments, residents of Yan-Dadi remain hopeful that the newfound electricity and other infrastructural improvements will not only enhance their livelihoods but also attract further investments to the community.
