A 37year-old woman, on Thursday dragged her ex husband, Basiru Yusuf to a Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, demanding he pays her the sum of one million and seventy five Naira.
The complainant told the court through her counsel, K. I. Saidu, that the money was expended for the feeding and school fees of their five children since they divorced in 2017.
“This amount does not include clothing, shelter and health care; I do not need a refund of that as it is my own contribution as a mother,” she said.
She prayed court to compel him to continue taking his full responsibility after paying the debt.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant was not in court after being served.
The judge, Malam Nasir Murtala, said it was important for the defendant to be present for the proceedings as there were claims against him.
Murtala issued a bench warrant of arrest for the defendant, and adjourned to April 21 for further hearing.
