Why Mutfwang’s Mandate Should Be Affirmed At The Apex Court – PDP Stalwart
A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Plateau State and President PDP Muslims Youth Council Kabiru Muhammad Garkuwa has asserted that the current governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has an auspicious start in the last seven months he has been in office “and his mandate shouldn’t be stolen” via the court.
Garkuwa who spoke with DAYLIGHT REPORTERS said the governor was massively elected by the people in the last 2023 elections “and is doing what the people want”, appealing to the supreme court”not to disrupt the good things being done by the governor”.
Recall that the election of Mutfwang was challenged in tribunal where he scaled through but later sacked by court of appeal. The judgement the governor is currently challenging at the supreme court.
However, Garkuwa begged the supreme court to consider the “overwhelming support the governor enjoys and the works he has commenced so far” and affirms his mandate.
Buttressing his points, the PDP stalwart noted that within the period under review, Mutfwang has restored the rail transport within the town which stopped for decades.
“He boosted public transportation by reviving the trains that will operate around Bukuru, Dadin Kowa and Jos south in order alleviate transportation difficulties as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
“He also subsidised education by reducing 50 per cent of the schools fees to enable people afford to enrol in the Plateau State University.
“His seven months in office is better than the eight years of the past administration. With this, we appeal to the judiciary especially the supreme court to be just to Nigeria’s democracy and the people of Plateau State.
“We have observed that the court of appeal has nullified the victory of the governor over pre-elections matters which was unfair but the fact is that, the governor was the choice of the majority of the people of Plateau State, if justice prevails in the court, I am sure he will remain the governor “, he entreated
You can’t change the law,PDP is gone and there’s no short cut for that.Dr.Nentawe on the way to reclaim his mandate.
