Why Gombe People Can’t Afford To Lose Sen. Goje In The Power Circle
By Khalid Mu’azu Izala
Distinguished Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje has proven himself to be not only the representative of only Gombe Central Zone or Gombe State, but the representative of the whole northeast sub-region.
Yesterday on the floor of the Senate, Sen. Danjuma Goje has stood and spoken for the entire northeast region over the marginalisation of the zone in the N4.2 trillion road project approved by the Federal Executive Council on 3 February.
Senator Goje lamented that the entire northeast zone was allotted only two projects; Yola- Fufore-Gurin road, which will cost N11.81bn, and Karim Lamido road, budgeted for N7.68bn Tye two roads totalled at 19.5bn only out of the 4.2 trillion budgeted for superhighways construction across the country.
Sen. Goje listed several critical roads in the region that were in dire need of reconstruction, including Bauchi-Gombe road, Potiskum-Gombe road, Yola-Mubi road, Biu-Damboa-Maiduguri road and Numan-Jalingo road, urging the upper chamber to intervene and give the zone the share it deserves in the budget.
Many senators contributed to the submission of Senator Goje, leading the upper chamber to officially urged the federal government to include more share to the northeast sub-region in such critical infrastructure.
Whoever is attempting to push Senator Danjuma Goje out of the power circle is not only harming the Senator, but also the people of Gombe Central Zone, Gombe State, and Nigeria as a whole. Senator Goje has been a strong advocate for his constituents, consistently pushing for their interests and facilitating development.
