The University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has inducted 19, 027 students as freshmen and women into various academic disciplines of the institution on Friday.
The ceremony which took place at UNIUYO Main campus, Nwaniba covered 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 admissions.
A breakdown of the figures shows that; 9, 977 students were admitted for studies in 2022/2023 and 7, 573 in 2023/2024 respectively totalling 17, 550 matriculants for the undergraduate full time category, 910 for the postgraduate full time programmes, while 567 represents those from the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies.
Vice – Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo during the matriculation charged the celebrants to be of good behaviour by submitting themselves to constituted authority, abhor cultism, examination malpractice, obey rules and regulations of the university of Uyo by upholding and promoting it’s noble ideals, principles and values the institution is known for.
“With your entrance into this center of academic excellence, your main focus and mindset should be geared towards excellence in all your academic endeavours.
“The University of Uyo is not just a place of learning; it is a community that thrives on diversity, collaboration and mutual respect. Embrace the rich tapestry of backgrounds and perspectives that you find among your peers. Forge friendships that will last a lifetime and build a network that would extend beyond the confines of our campus”, Prof. Ndaeyo advised.
While congratulating them for the successful entrance into the university warned them to fear God and honour God for their successes.
