The Management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has announced the suspension of all final year students of the Departments of Environmental Protection and Management, Microbiology and Mass Communication for flouting Management’s directive.
Our reporter gathered that final year students of the three departments were said to have acted in violation of the ban on reckless driving, flying of colours and wild celebrations after examinations as contained in a circular with ref; UC/REG/DISC. 45 dated August 7, 2024.
The suspension notice as contained in a Memo signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe states that the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, was saddened by the development which does not portray the students in good light.
To this end, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic has been directed to suspend all actions relating to the processing of the affected students results, even as the matter is being referred to a Special Management Committee charged with the responsibility to investigate the matter and make recommendation(s) to Management.
The Deans of the affected faculties have also been directed to ensure full compliance with Management’s directive on the matter.
