The Ukrainian Red Cross Society will accompany evacuation convoys in the Kiev region, Deputy Head of the Ukraine President’s Office Kirill Tymoshenko said on Wednesday.
“The Ukrainian Red Cross Society will accompany evacuation convoys in the Kiev region,’’ Tymoshenko said on Telegram.
On Tuesday, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the Russian armed forces had imposed a ceasefire from 07:00 GMT to allow the evacuation of civilians from several Ukrainian cities.
This is including Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol.
On Feb. 24, Russia began a military operation in Ukraine, responding to calls for help from the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in countering the aggression of Ukrainian troops.
The Russian Defence Ministry said the operation was targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure only.
