Tribute To My Late Brother, Ahmed A. Alkali
By: Haruna A. Alkali
It’s been a year since you left us, and I still find it hard to believe that you’re gone. You were a shining star in our family, a kind and generous soul who always had a smile on your face.
As a university administrator and journalist, you dedicated your life to the pursuit of knowledge and truth. You were a tireless advocate for education and the freedom of the press, and you inspired so many people with your passion and commitment.
Your colleagues and students at the university will always remember you as a wise and compassionate leader, someone who always had time for others and who worked tirelessly to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
As a journalist, you were a fearless and independent voice, unafraid to speak truth to power and to challenge those in positions of authority. You were a champion of the underdog and a defender of the voiceless, and you used your platform to shed light on the issues that mattered most.
Your work touched the lives of so many people, and your legacy will live on through the many lives you touched and the many people you inspired.
But more than anything, Bappa Amadu, I will always remember you as my brother. You were my confidant, my advisor, and my friend. You were always there for me, no matter what challenges I faced, and you always had the right words of encouragement and support.
I will miss you every day, Bappa Amadu, but I take comfort in knowing that you are now at peace Insha Allah . Your memory will live on in our hearts, and we will honor your legacy by continuing to fight for the causes you believed in and by living our lives with the same kindness, generosity, and love that you showed us every day.
Rest in peace, dear brother. You will always be in our hearts.
