Taraba Renames Remodel Government House After TY Danjuma

The Taraba State Government on Friday officially renamed the newly remodeled Government House Jalingo, after former Minister of Defense, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.
Mr Danjuma hails from Takum Local Government Area of the state and one of the country’s most generous philanthropists.
The State Government House will now be called TY Danjuma House, following approval by the Taraba State House of Assembly.
This was in response to the approval of a motion moved by Jethro Ezekiel, the Majority leader and Member representing Wukari 1 in the State Assembly.
The Speaker, Kizito Bonzena, presided over a plenary session where the House debated and approved the renaming.
This was not the first time the state is renaming an edifice after Danjuma, in April the state government renamed the remodeled Taraba State liaison office in Abuja after Danjuma.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Permanent Secretary, Taraba State Government House, Ibrahim Yaboro, said the executive arm supported the Assembly because of Danjuma’s significant contribution to the growth of the state and the country at large.
“The people of Taraba State will forever, remain eternally grateful to General TY Danjuma, GCON, the Abonta of Wukari, the former Chief of Defence Staff and Minister of Defence who single-handedly pursued and obtained the approval of the top Military brass for the creation of Taraba State.
“No man in this state deserves this honour and recognition for this act of patriotism and love for his people.
“As a Statesman, a philanthropist and a colossus, his impact in human capital development has permeated in all the states in Nigeria and beyond. We cannot be able to enumerate what you mean to Taraba, Nigeria and Africa as a continent.
“May God continue to grant you good health and wisdom as you continue to impact positively on the lives of people irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnicity through your foundation.” Mr Yaboro said.
The occasion was grace by Mr Danjuma, Governor Agbu Kefas, of Taraba State, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, former minister of information, Jerry Gana, Senators and members of the National Assembly from the state and other top government functionaries.
