Taraba Appeals to Federal Government to Construct Karim Lamido Road

The Chairman, Taraba State Advisory Committee on Local Government Autonomy, Abel Diah, has appealed to the Federal Government to construct the Jalingo-Karim Lamido road
Mr. Diah made the appeal in Jalingo the state capital, during an interactive meeting with civil society and community-based organizations.
Diah, while reacting to a presentation made by Mary Jonathan, said there is the urgent need for the federal government to consider the construction of the road to alleviate the suffering of the people of the area.
According to him, the construction of the road will boost economic activities and open more communities in the state to development.
Diah also appealed to journalists in the state, to use their medium to attract federal government attention to the state.
Mrs Jonathan, a resident of Karim Lamido during her presentation narrated her ordeal before reaching Jalingo for the meeting and appealed to the committee to draw government attention to their plights.
She outlined the ongoing challenges faced by farmers in transporting their produce to markets, which according to her, has created significant hardships for the community.
Aligning their weights to that of Mary, other participants urged the governments to do the needful in order to achieve the much-desired autonomy in the local government councils spread across the state.
Karim Lamido Local Government Area, which was established in 1976 is situated across the River Benue, and is geographically adjacent to Adamawa State in the east, Plateau State in the northwest, Bauchi and Gombe states in the north, and Lau, Ardo-Kola, Gassol, and Ibi local government councils in the south.
The people of the area who are predominantly farmers, said the lack of access roads, is the significant constraints affecting their farming occupation hence the need for the authorities concern to as a matter of urgency, come to the aid of the communities.
