Sokoto Government, Experts Engage Social Media Users On Good Governance, Accountability

Sokoto State government through the office of the Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Bawa in collaboration with Optimal Image Media Limited has flagged off a 2-day training for social media, aides and online influencers in the state on promoting good governance and accountability in government.
The workshop, themed “Navigating Social Media Storms,” drew two participants from each of the 23 local government areas of the state and held at the Army Officers Mess and Suites.
Speaking before declaring the workshop open, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu re-affirmed that the social media is gradually taking over the information dissemination space.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Muhammed Idris Gobir said the conventional media is equally embracing the new reality of social media to stay relevant.
While noting that his administration recognizes the importance of enhancing the capacity and efficiency of social media handlers to keep pace with emerging techniques and technologies, the governor appealed to participants to pay attention to the training, which would enhance their capacities.
The governor further highlighted the need to adjust to change adding, creativity and holden to ethics and guiding principles coupled with continues self development aids professionalism.
Speaking earlier, chairman of the Board of Directors of Optimal Image Media Limited, Alhaji Shu’aibu Mungadi, admitted that the evidences are very clear Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu has done impressively well in delivery of good governance.
Mungadi, however urged the government to make more efforts in engaging the media to adequately publicize their performances.
On his part, the Managing Director of Optimal Image Media Limited, Alhaji Dahiru Hassan Kera, disclosed that the workshop is aimed at educating social media users and influencers on modern trends in the profession.
”The ultimate goal of the training was to promote positive digital engagement and ensure social media platforms which serve as instruments of development, unity, and progress,” he said.
