A former lawmaker cum human rights activist, Sen. Shehu Sani, has mourned the demise of late Emir of Zazzau, Alh. Shehu Idris who died at 84.
Senator Shehu Sani in his condolence message on his verified twitter handle described the late Emir as a unifying figure and titan of peace while alive.
According to him, ” I received the shocking news of the demise of Emir of Zaria HRS, Alh. Shehu Idris”.
Shehu Sani twitted that the deceased was a pillar of transformation and bridge between religion, culture and modality.
The Emir of Zazzau whose death was announced today, left behind 4 wives and several children and grand as well as great grand children.
According to a source in the palace who pleaded for anonymity revealed that the monarch who was appointed on 15th February, 1975 and spent 45 years in the throne died today (Sunday) after a protracted illness.
The source also disclosed that the late monarch has been battling with an undisclosed ailment for decade until this morning when death snatched him away.
Until his death, he was the chairman of the state council of Traditional rulers.
