Senator Zwingina, Abiola’s ‘Hope ’93’ Director General Dies at 70

Dr. Jonathan Zwingina, the Director General of presidential campaign organisation leading to the successful election of Chief MKO Abiola in 1993, has died in Abuja Wednesday. He was aged 70.
He helped prosecute the ‘Hope ’93’ presidential campaign of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) annulled by Military President Ibrahim Babangida.
Zwingina was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and elected Senator in 1999 representing Adamawa South Senatorial District and reelected in April 2003.
He was on the Senate Committees of Works and Housing, Establishment, Internal Affairs, Information, Special Projects, Privatization and Economic Affairs.
